Lakeyah, a southside native, is a 3L (third-year law student) at DePaul University College of Law, where she serves as a Teaching Assistant for the Family Law Course, a 711 student attorney in the Family Law Clinic, and the Managing Editor of the Depaul Journal for Social Justice. Lakeyah is a 2019-2020 Schiller DuCanto & Fleck Family Law Fellow. Additionally, Lakeyah received her Masters of Jurisprudence in Child and Family Law from DePaul University College of Law in 2018. Prior to law school, Lakeyah worked as a litigation paralegal for 5 years. Lakeyah earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at the University of Illinois in 2013.
In alignment with her passion for giving back to the community, Lakeyah founded BU1LT (built) Scholarship in 2020. BU1LT Scholarship (@bu1ltscholarship) is a scholarship program designed to offset the cost of textbooks for first-year BIPOC law students.
